This role is being advertised by Brightwork Ltd and we require a Weekend Cafe Manager for our clients busy cafe in the EH5 area of Edinburgh. Your Time at Work Hours of work are Saturday and Sunday 0930-1630. Main Duties and Responsibilities: On-site and Bought in Goods To maintain effective day to day organisation goods by: The restocking of goods, from kitchen stores or from gift shop supplies, flagging up when re-ordering is required. This may include brought in goods such as checking off deliveries, price-labelling of stock, warehousing stock and ordering food stock. Keeping stock levels appropriate Stock turn-over Liaising with the kitchen and Café manager as required The café & shop: Preparing the rota for the shop to provide the necessary cover and dealing with any changes to this to ensure there are always enough staff. Liaising with other Hospice teams as required to provide effective running, e.g. Finance, Stewards, Fundraising, Domestics Serving customers and helping to keep the café clean and tidy. Volunteers and staff: Organising the monthly rota, filling and keeping it updated when call-offs occur. Training and motivating volunteers to carry out the relevant role of café volunteer, ensuring good food hygiene practices are adhered to. Systems: Minimise controllable costs and shrinkage at all times. Ensure operational systems and procedures are adhered to and are carried out effectively and efficiently. Ensure health and safety standards are maintained within the area at all times. Ensure all areas of the premises are kept clean and tidy at all times. Administration: General administration using Microsoft word, Excel and Outlook Ordering of food goods as required support sales of all products in Café and shop Other: This job description does not contain an exhaustive list of duties, and the post holder may be required to undertake other duties that are within the post holder's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed. Our Perfect Worker Educated to Standard Grade (or equivalent) in English and Maths or able to demonstrate competence in these areas: Food handling experience Experience in using software packages for instance Microsoft word, Excel and databases Retail background minimum 1 years' experience Ability to manage and plan rotas . Some experience working in office based support role dealing with variety of tasks Flexibility in working pattern to ensure café is always staffed Experience of working with distressed customers Good organisation and prioritising skills Good interpersonal customer service skills Accuracy and attention to detail Skills/experience in stock management and pricing of stock and food Experience of merchandising or displaying stock and food Experience dealing with cash and card payments Ability to solve problems and deal with queries Keeping payment details secure and confidential Excellent time management skills Ability to prioritise workload, and frequently to be able to work on several tasks at once Key Information and Benefits £21.39 per hour for Saturday and Sunday.
