As a Diesel Generator Technician, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel-powered generators, ensuring reliable backup power for industrial, commercial, event, disaster and critical infrastructure sites. Your expertise will keep systems running smoothly during outages and planned maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance (oil/filter changes, cooling and fuel system checks, load-bank testing)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in diesel generators—including ATS and control panels like Deep Sea, ComAp, Woodward
- Install, commission, and decommission generator sets and ancillary equipment
- Perform load bank tests, voltage checks, and performance verification
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance logs, parts, and service history
- Ensure safety compliance, including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE use
- Respond to on-call or emergency service calls and work rotational shifts when needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Secondary School achievement preferred, although if you have the drive, desire, determination and the ‘want’ you will be considered.
- Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostics, generator alternators, and three-phase electrical systems - For senior roles, experience of 2+ years on industrial/commercial diesel generators is essential
- Familiarity with control systems and ATS installation/troubleshooting
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites would be beneficial, although you can work towards this

- Comfortable working in confined spaces, outdoors, and under changing weather
- On-call availability and ability to work overtime or emergency shifts – night shift callouts
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members
