Multi-Skilled Engineer
Location: East Dunbartonshire
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (Day & Night Rotation)
Annual Leave: 30 Days per Year (January to December)
About the Role
Our Engineering team plays a critical role in the success of our manufacturing operation, providing the expertise, technology, and support required to deliver innovative, high-quality products to our customers.
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our team in East Dunbartonshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of manufacturing equipment through both planned and reactive maintenance activities. You will play a key role in minimising downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with the site maintenance schedule.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing faults to minimise production downtime.
- Perform fault finding, root cause analysis, and corrective actions across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ensure all equipment is safely returned to service following maintenance activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, productivity, and product quality.
Electrical Maintenance
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults across manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Carry out sensor replacement, setup, and calibration activities.
- Perform low-voltage electrical repairs, including plugs, fuses, lighting, and associated components.
- Reset breakers, trace faults, and undertake troubleshooting activities.
- Support and maintain vision and camera systems, including Barco and similar technologies.
- Disconnect and reconnect plug-in motors using appropriate isolation procedures.
Mechanical Support
- Assist with mechanical maintenance and repair activities as required.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-skilled engineering team to ensure production targets are achieved.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, installations, and improvement projects.
Compliance & Documentation
- Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and site standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and shift handover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, audits, and company procedures.
- Manage the issue and control of spare parts through the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (PEMAC).
- Support contractors and external suppliers during maintenance activities, shutdowns, and equipment installations, ensuring all work is completed safely and compliantly.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Time-served Engineer with a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, particularly within electrical systems.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Competent across both electrical and mechanical maintenance disciplines.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of automated machinery, sensors, and industrial control systems.
Desirable
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Experience working within a FMCG or high-volume manufacturing environment.
