Health & Safety Advisor/Coach

Brightwork's client is currently recruiting a boots on the ground Health & Safety Advisor/Coach for their industrial plant in South Ayrshire. 

Working as an integral team member within the Compliance Department and onsite team you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, mentoring & coaching of all employees regarding all aspects of Health & Safety on site and any associated compliance issues. 

Accountabilities 

Assist the Head of Compliance and the Safety Leader in the delivery of the SHEQ Strategy and associated Local Action Plans, to be developed in line with the compliance road map. You will play a pivotal role in future developments of the business compliance road maps.

Proactively drive positive safety cultural change by setting high safety expectations and encouraging others to follow your example. You will engage others to embrace change through a coaching and mentoring approach, creating a safer working environment. You will champion the roll out of our client's 2-year compliance road map at site level, holding relevant stakeholders at sites accountable for its successful implementation.

Maintain contact with official and professional bodies - Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Environmental Health Officer, Fire Authorities, Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and other safety organisations.

Conduct monthly internal compliance audits of site(s) in line with the overall audit plan; report on findings and ensure actions are regularly reviewed through to completion.

Conduct health and safety inspections on focus areas which have been identified within the relevant safety observations/statistic for that site. Review and update (where necessary) COSHH assessments and prepare reports and documents as required.

Advise operational management and staff on all aspects of Health & Safety. Bring any relevant new legislation to the attention of the Leadership Team

 

Experience & Qualifcations 

NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent qualification

Some knowledge/experience of working in a Waste, Renewable Energy or petrochemical industry would be an advantage.

Strong IT Skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel (advanced); Word & PowerPoint, familiarity with maintenance management systems would be beneficial. A strong understanding of Management of Change (MOC), PTW and hazardous energy control processes would be advantageous.

Full UK driving licence
