My client, a highly successful pharmaceutical contract manufacturing business has an excellent opportunity for a Head of Development to join their senior management team. Responsible for the analytical and formulation development teams you will contribute to the site’s achievement of business plan objectives and will implement a development strategic plan to drive new business forward, whilst maintaining high quality output and exceptional customer focus. The successful candidate will also be responsible for driving lean and continuous improvement programmes throughout the development function.
Provide leadership and management to analytical and formulation development team
Explore, identify and develop new business opportunities as well as continuing to grow relationships which may contribute to business growth
Provide technical guidance and expertise to the site, as well as generate client proposals
Make recommendations and implement methods and techniques to increase the quality of the product or service
Work with development team managers to ensure schedules are closely managed to meet objectives and highlight opportunities for support with other departments
Ensure technical documentation is of a high standard at all times including protocols, reports and analytical data
Drive a continual improvement culture to continuously meet customer expectations and timescales
Ensure department is always working in line with company and regulatory standards
Liaise with clients, technical teams and project managers to keep updated with current projects as well as attending customer meetings and audits
Review and approve SOPs, protocols, reports and other relevant documents
The successful candidate will be educated to at least Degree level in a Life Sciences discipline and have extensive experience working within a similar role in a development function within the pharmaceutical industry. You will demonstrate strong leadership skills and have previous experience of LEAN process tools, ideally Green Belt training. You will be confident in a client facing role and will be able to communicate and work with personnel of all levels.
