Logistics Operations Manager

My client, a highly successful manufacturing business, has an excellent opportunity for a Logistics Operations Manager to join the team. Reporting to the Operations Director you will be responsible for ensuring the right products are delivered to the right locations on time and in the most cost effective manner. The role will involve significant travel throughout the UK as you manage a number of different distribution depots to ensure operations are running smoothly.

 

Key responsibilities:

Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations.

Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the organisation to improve operational and financial performance.

Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements.

Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs and negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers

Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.

Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report accordingly.

Assess and make recommendations for logistics processes in potential new facilities or plants and advise of cost implications and efficiency.

Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports.

 

The successful candidate will have extensive experience within a similar senior logistics role and be comfortable with significant travel between depots in the UK. The role has the option to be based at the Head Office in Edinburgh or elsewhere in the UK. You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of technical logistical regulations and would ideally hold a relevant Degree in a Logistics or Supply Chain subject.
