Brightwork are supporting one of our largest global manufacturing companies with the recruitment of Senior Buyer that will focus on their domestic and international freight.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has gained experience in a procurement, or category/contract management position, that has focused on logistics/freight, either domestically or internationally – you’ll be joining a well-established global team and be able to benefit from their wealth of experience across all sectors and geographical areas.

You’ll be responsible for providing support to the Global Category Management team, assisting in the development and execution of the category strategy and sourcing activity. You’ll support the planning activity of the Category Manager, for all areas of freight & logistics, including air, sea, road freight and express logistics.

Responsibilities will include:

• Provide analysis, category and supply market expertise and knowledge to develop sourcing opportunities/projects for implementation.
• Analysis and interpretation of spend data to inform category planning and sourcing strategy development working with the Performance Manager.
• Responsible for managing and administering the contract database and contracts within the freight category.
• Provide management of relationships and suppliers, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth.
• Meet savings targets and continually push to exceed expectations.
• Implement actions to optimally leverage category suppliers globally.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering savings from sourcing activity and have a strong background in a logistics procurement role. You’ll have experience of working with suppliers globally, whilst understanding regional differences. It’s critical that you have a proven excellence in negotiation and contracting and have a good understand of outsourced logistics solutions.
