Process Chemist/Chemical Engineer

Brightwork are supporting with the recruitment of a Process Chemist/Chemical Engineer to join one of our prestigious manufacturing clients at their site on a Full Time, Permanent Basis with an Immediate start.

The role will see you working alongside the team, overseeing the entire process within a defined area of the plant, supporting in resolving issues using initiative and problem solving.

Duties Include:

  • Support the team in developing and maintain an assessment of the performance of the process and identify key focus areas for improvement.
  • Working in a manner which maintains safe operations whilst implementing improvements to production levels, and raw material and energy usages.
  • Generating Project Brief and User Requirement documentation in support of project implementation.
  • Preparation of safety specific documentation to support implementation of improvement projects.
  • Ensuring the competence of the operations team to maintain safe operation of the plant following process changes.
  • Commissioning of the plant after changes or new project installations.
  • Ensuring the update of all associated documentation is completed following change to the plant or process.
  • Ensuring that changes to the plant and process are clearly communicated to the operations and technical teams.
  • Consult with the Shift Manager in the event of incidents, deviations in quality or disruptions in the process associated with process changes.
  • Discuss project work to be carried out with the team; instruct the team on non-conformities and rules and provide additional information.
  • Participate in the monthly “Learn and Improve” reviews.
  • Use existing and or develop tools to collate and analyse data for asset utilisation and process monitoring purposes.
  • Managing direct reports and supporting the Operations Team to resolve problems when required.

Successful candidates will ideally have either a minimum of 2 years relevant management experience or a relevant science or engineering degree and a minimum of several years’ relevant industrial experience preferable in a Production Environment. They should have a proven track record of technical competence in chemistry and/or engineering together with problem solving and analytical skills. Candidates must demonstrate effective leadership in SHEQ, drive for results, communication skills, planning and act as a team player. Dependent on experience, candidates may require to demonstrate a willingness to work towards further education.
